Install FramePulse
Requirements: Windows 10/11 x64, DaVinci Resolve Studio with Workflow Integration support, local Workflow Integration SDK, and administrator approval. Node.js is not required. A macOS version is not available.
-
Verify Resolve Studio and local SDK
FramePulse runs inside DaVinci Resolve Studio using Blackmagic Design's Workflow Integration SDK. The installer looks for your local
WorkflowIntegration.nodebinary. The standard SDK location provided by DaVinci Resolve Studio is:%PROGRAMDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Developer\Workflow Integrations\Examples\SamplePromisePlugin\WorkflowIntegration.nodeIf not automatically detected, browse to this module from your own Resolve Studio installation. Existing private modules are preserved. Note that free DaVinci Resolve does not include Workflow Integration support.
-
Download and close FramePulse
Register and download the installer via Get FramePulse. If an older version of FramePulse is currently open in Resolve, close its plugin window before running setup. Closing the plugin disconnects monitoring links but never interrupts or cancels an active render. Never close or restart DaVinci Resolve while rendering.
-
Run the native setup
Double-click the installer and approve the Windows administrator prompt. The wizard guides you through a balanced three-step flow: welcome overview, SDK verification, and installation into:
%PROGRAMDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Workflow Integration Plugins\com.drdashboard.renderstatusBecause the executable is currently unsigned, Windows SmartScreen may show an unknown publisher warning. Choose More info → Run anyway after checking the official download source. Setup never restarts or closes Resolve.
-
Open FramePulse in Resolve
In DaVinci Resolve Studio, open the top menu and select Workspace > Workflow Integrations > FramePulse. The plugin window appears and is ready to monitor your active project.
Startup update notifications
FramePulse includes an integrated, non-intrusive update checker that runs automatically when the plugin starts.
- Automatic check on startup: When opened, FramePulse queries the official canonical release endpoint for newer versions. It compares version numbers numerically (for example, 0.1.1 is recognized as newer than 0.1.0).
- What's new notice: If a newer version is deployed, a compact banner displays the new version number and concise release notes highlighting recent improvements and fixes.
- Safe manual download: Clicking Download update opens the official setup download in your default browser. FramePulse never performs silent code replacement or unprompted background installation.
- Safe update procedure: Always close the FramePulse plugin window before running an update installer so file locks are released cleanly. Do not restart DaVinci Resolve during an active render. Reopening FramePulse after setup completes will load the new release.
Creating your first monitor link
-
Keep your project active
Ensure the project you want to monitor is open and active in DaVinci Resolve Studio. Each FramePulse monitor link binds strictly to the active project name.
-
Click Create in FramePulse
Click Create in the plugin panel. A unique, accountless link is generated. Click Copy to place the viewer URL onto your clipboard.
-
Open on any browser
Open the URL on your mobile phone, tablet, or another computer. Anyone possessing the link can view live progress. No sign-in or mobile app installation is required.
-
Render as normal
Queue and start your render jobs in DaVinci Resolve Studio using your normal Deliver page controls. Keep FramePulse open on your workstation for continuous updates.
Understanding telemetry & readings
- Waiting state: When no job is actively rendering, FramePulse displays a calm waiting ring. Waiting is not a failure, and an empty render queue does not produce artificial progress.
- Progress estimation vs. confirmation: Live estimates fill the intervals between Resolve API status checks. However, only explicit confirmation from Resolve permits 100%. Completion is never assumed or estimated.
- ETA priority: When DaVinci Resolve provides an ETA, it takes immediate priority. If unavailable, an estimated ETA is shown with a clear label.
- Output FPS: The FPS figure in the viewer reflects the video file's output frame rate (e.g., 24.0 or 29.97 fps), not the workstation's live rendering speed.
- Offline freezing: If the workstation loses connection or FramePulse is closed, the viewer freezes the last known snapshot. FramePulse never predicts forward movement while offline.
Troubleshooting
“WorkflowIntegration.node was not found” during setup
Verify that DaVinci Resolve Studio is installed. Look for the SDK file under:
%PROGRAMDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Developer\Workflow Integrations\Examples\SamplePromisePlugin\WorkflowIntegration.node
If you installed Resolve to a non-standard drive, browse manually to the WorkflowIntegration.node file during the installer's SDK step. Free DaVinci Resolve does not include this file.
The installer cannot write or replace a file
Close the FramePulse plugin window inside Resolve before updating, and approve the Windows administrator prompt. If DaVinci Resolve is actively holding a file, wait for your render to finish, close Resolve safely, and run the installer again.
FramePulse is missing from the Resolve menu
Verify that the plugin files exist under %PROGRAMDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Workflow Integration Plugins\com.drdashboard.renderstatus. In some older versions, it may appear as “DR Render Status”. If still missing, restart DaVinci Resolve safely after all active renders complete.
How do I uninstall FramePulse?
Close FramePulse, open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find FramePulse, and click Uninstall. The uninstaller removes setup-created files without touching DaVinci Resolve, projects, or your SDK examples.
The viewer shows stale or offline status
Check that the FramePulse plugin window remains open on your workstation and that both the workstation and viewer device have active internet connections. If you closed and reopened FramePulse, create and share a new link; previous desktop sessions are cleared on close.
How do I stop monitoring without stopping the render?
In the FramePulse plugin window, click Stop tracking or Remove link. Monitoring will disconnect immediately, but your DaVinci Resolve render will continue rendering completely unaffected.
Link lifetime & privacy
Every FramePulse monitor link has a fixed lifetime of seven days from the moment it is created. Activity or re-renders do not extend this duration.
Desktop links and publisher credentials are process-local. When you close FramePulse, all active sessions on that machine are cleared. Reopening FramePulse starts fresh. Cloud viewers retain the last offline snapshot until the seven-day period expires.
FramePulse never transmits video footage, render output files, system file paths, or private host IDs. Only normalized project names, timeline names, and render telemetry are shared. Anyone with the URL can view the link, so share links only with authorized colleagues. See Privacy Information for complete details.
